What can teachers do to help?
*Know the bullying policy at your school.
*Frequently interview parents and students at your school to determine how often bullying occurs, when, where, how students and teachers intervene, and if certain strategies are working.
*Inform the students and parents of how to report bullying at your school and in your own classroom.
*Create a positive, safe environment. Develop a mission statement with your class and as a school that does not tolerate bullying.
*Ensure that consequences are in place for students who show bullying behaviors. Be fair, firm, and consistent when enforcing those consequences for all students.
*Most importantly, EDUCATE children and parents about bullying!
